Depths of Darkhollow Progression

Getting Started

There are a number of things to work on in Depths of Darkhollow. For starters there is the Slipgear Gem quest which will have you visiting locations around the expansion for an aug that goes in charm slot. There is the resist clicky mask which, while requiring 23 group missions, is not only a very great piece of gear when evolved but is an instant cast buff of 50 to all resists. You'll want to complete access to Dreadspire Keep by completing 4 group missions. Then another 5 missions and 5 raids for access to Demiplane of Blood.

Slipgear Gem

The Slipgear Gem is an augment for your charm slot which grows in strength (up to 50 hp/mana) as you visit locations around the expansions. Details for it are provided on the Corathus Creep page.

Ancient Werewolf Skull

This task begins with "an old shiliskin fortune teller" in Undershore. Hail it and follow the dialog (ending with "I will master the dangers") and you get the task "The Depths of Darkhollow". It has 5 steps:

  • Find Fibblebrap in the Creep of Corathus
  • Learn the fate of Elder Longshadow in Undershore
  • Survive the Korlach Leviathan Below Stoneroot Falls
  • Fulfill Jarzarrad's Prophecy in The Ruins of Illsalin
  • Rescue the Ecologist of Expedition 328 from The Hive
Each step in this task is a complete mission arc. They can be done in any order at any time, just return after each completed arc for your incremental rewards.

For the first step you will need to complete the Find Fibblebrap mission arc given by Bellfast in Corathus Creep (Note this requires faction with Expedition 328 to request):

When you have all 5 missions complete hail the fortune teller to get Fractured Werewolf Jawbone, an instant click 50 fire resist buff.

For the second step you will need to complete the Elder Longshadow mission arc given by Shadowalker Dustspirit in Stoneroot Falls:

When you have all 5 missions complete hail the fortune teller to get Fractured Temporal Plate, an instant click 50 cold resist buff.

For the third step you will need to complete the Leviathan mission arc given by Widdlethorpe Gemfinder in Stoneroot Falls:

When you have all 4 missions complete hail the fortune teller to get Fractured Frontal Plate, an instant click 50 magic resist buff.

For the fourth step you will need to complete the Level 70 Spell mission arc given by Jarzarrad the Prophet in Undershore:

When you have all 5 missions complete hail the fortune teller to get Fractured Bone Ridges, an instant click 50 poison resist buff.

For the fifth step you will need to complete the Level 69 Spell mission arc given by Brovil Pallivineg in Corathus Creep:

When you have all 4 missions complete hail the fortune teller to get Fractured Werewolf Incisors, an instant click 50 disease resist buff.

After completing all 5 steps you can place the 5 rewards inside the Funeral Shroud of Den Lord Rakban (provided by the fortune teller) to create a 3 stage evolving mask:

  1. Ancient Werewolf Skull
  2. Skull of the Den Lord
  3. The Skull of Den Lord Rakban

Dreadspire Access

To gain access to Dreadspire Keep you need to complete four seemingly unrelated group missions. It starts with "Scavenger Hunting" given by Treddlehoop in Corathus Keep:

  • Loot 1 Shiliskin Tentacle Cluster from a Shiliskin
  • Loot 1 Drachnid Silk Gland from a Drachnid
  • Loot 2 Chopping Sword from a deep Orc
  • Deliver 1 Shiliskin Tentacle Cluster to Treddlehoop
  • Deliver 1 Drachnid Silk Gland to Treddlehoop
  • Deliver 2 Chopping Sword to Treddlehoop

This is a non-instanced group task with a 6 hour window. The Shiliskin Tentacle Cluster is a roughly 1 in 10 drop from level 72 Shiliskin in Illsalin. Your best bet is to invis/lev to the south and drop down into the eastern of the two tunnels leading to the large southern most room. The Drachnid Silk Gland is a roughly 1 in 9 drop in the Hive, but you need level 72 drachnids. The lower level ones either don't drop or it is exceedingly rare. Invis/lev up to the first tower, then north circling east to reach the living bridges. Set up camp at one of the instances. And the Chopping Swords are about 1 in 14 from blue con "a Deep orc" in Stoneroot Falls. Legionnaires won't drop them. Head to the western side of zone, turn south and you should find plenty. Simply kill, loot, and turn in for Treddlehoop's Signature Monocle. Treddlehoop promises to upgrade it if you can locate better parts. Complete the following missions in any order:

Give Treddlehoop the Monocle, Prism, Ring, and Necklace and he will give you Treddlehoop's Wonderful Monoculor Seeing Device, which acts as the key providing access to Dreadspire Keep via The Hive. Reports are this can be a bit buggy to zone in and set your flag. Once inside Dreadspire kill trash mobs to collect a Formal Dinner Invitation. This will allow you to enter the zone via the statue in Stoneroot Falls, a much safer path.

Monocle of Blood

There are 5 tasks that need to be done to obtain the Monocle of Blood needed to enter the Demiplane of Blood. This is a HARD requirement, meaning you can not be 85'd into the zone without it. The Monocle is the result of the final group task which gives one to all members of the group, so each person that completes the arc can flag 5 that have not.

The first task is "Frustrated Functionary" given by Melion Pell in Dreadspire Keep. Chat with him (key phrase 'I am the purchasable type') to get the group task:

  • Kill 8 bats
  • Feed four hungry guests of the Dreadspire
  • Find the missing necklace
  • Return the necklace to Melion

After killing 8 bats in the bellfry look around for "a dinner guest" (others can work as well including non-kos shadowmanes). You'll need to give them food (any food should work including summoned bread). Some will say they are still hungry, give them more. Some will say they aren't hungry, find another. Some will say they are satisfied, this will update the task. Some will throw a fit and attack (along with anything social nearby), so it is a good idea to have a class that can drop agro do the turn ins. Once you've satiated four guests you need to find a necklace. The necklace was taken by a random orc in the zone. Run around to orcs saying "What do you know about a necklace" until one of them says "Necklace? Me orc, me not wear jewelry. Master not let us take shiny things from guests, so me not take. If me do and tell you, me dead". This is the one, tell it "shiny things" then give it 240 platinum and it will give you the necklace. Return the necklace to Melion, this completes the task and flags you for access to The Quartet region via the secret door inside the library by clicking on the book which is sticking out a bit.

For the next task you will need to loot a Shard of Mystical Glass from a drachind, shadowmane, or vampiric researcher in Dreadspire. Give the shard to Treddlehoop in Corathus Creep and he will give you the group task "Check Out a Library Book" and return your shard. The task is simple, go back to Dreadspire and into the secret area of the Library to find The Official Cataloguer. Watch out for KOS mobs in the room, hail him and say 'I seek a study of mystical vision'. He will give you Study of Mystical Vision. Give this, along with the Shard, to Treddlehoop to complete the task and the entire group gets Polished Mystical Glass Shard. Tell Treddlehoop "What special ingredients" to get the third task, "Eyes Wide Open".

Back to Dreadspire. To continue you're going to need to loot a Dreadspire Crest from either The Restless One or Aliattis the Drinker (they both drop it around half the time). This is a key to the southern crypts. Now you are ready to do the next task:

  • Find a bag or container coveted by an undead
  • Create 1 Crypt Blood Slurry using tradeskills
  • Find some cloth owned by a being whose eye was used in making the glass
  • Deliver 1 Crypt Blood Slurry to Treddlehoop
  • Deliver 1 Bloody Cloth Eye Patch to Treddlehoop
  • Deliver 1 Polished Mystical Glass Shard to Treddlehoop
The bag, Funeral Donation Pouch, is dropped by Funerary Curate which can spawn from any static mob in the southern crypts. Next you need two ground spawns, Crypt Dust in the northern crypts and Elixir of Velvet Blood from Vivisector's lab. Combine these two inside the pouch to create Crypt Blood Slurry. Next up is Bloody Cloth Eye Patch which is dropped by Gronk One-Eye. Gronk roams around the tunnels (usually green on the maps). All that remains is to give the Eye Patch, the Slurry, and the Shard from the previous task to Treddlehoop to complete the task and everybody gets Blurry Lens.

Before continuing on you'll need to complete a task given by the Doorman, "Memories Lost":

  • Find information in the Seneschal's rooms
  • Loot 1 Daily Log from Keleborn Redwave
  • Deliver 1 Daily Log to the Doorman
The task is straightforward, find and kill Keleborn Redwave. He hits staggeringly hard, upward of 4k, buffs himself with both a 60% haste and a 225 point damage shield which is also an 1800 rune, and casts a 5500 lifetap! Any aids in the room will assist and repop fast, so plan your pull accordingly. Loot the daily log from Keleborn and give it to Doorman to complete the task and flag the entire group for access to Vule's chambers. Note, the task does not lock so you can swap people around before turning it in.

With proper access the Blurry Lens in inventory head to Nektulos Forest to find Coldwind Blackfoot. Tell him "I am willing to prove it" to get the task "Misty for You":

  • Find a way into the lower section of Dreadspire (note: This requires Memories Lost above)
  • Find Misty Blackfoot
  • Speak with Misty Blackfoot
  • Kill 1 Misty Blackfoot
  • Deliver 1 Moon-Shaped Diamond Pendant to Coldwind
  • Deliver 1 Blurry Lens to Coldwind
When you click into Vule's chambers Misty will appear. Hail her and say "We will stay here" and she will attack. She hits for up to 4k, can flurry and rampage, buffs herself with a 30 point ds, and casts a 4k PBAE with 500 dot. Loot the Pendant from her and deliver it along with the Blurry Lens to Coldwind. Everybody in the task gets a Lens of Bound Eyes.

At this point you need to kill Vule. He drops 2 Vule's Eye per kill. With both Vule's Eys and the Lens tell Coldwind "What lens of bound eyes" to get the task "Eye Bound". When you turn in both the Eye and Lens everybody in the group will get Lens of Eye-Glass. Lastly give the Lens of Eye-Glass and your Treddlehoop's Wonderful Monoculor Seeing Device to Treddlehoop to get your Monocle of Blood.

Streamlined path
Have a single group go do Frustrated Functionary, Memories Lost, and loot the Dreadspire Crest so they have full zone access. Loot a Shard of Mystical Glass and complete Check Out a Library Book so all 6 have Polished Mystical Glass Shard. Next complete Eyes Wide Open, so 5 have Polished Shard and 6 have Blurry Lens. Complete Misty for You and 5 will have Polished Shard and Blury Lens and 6 will have Lense of Bound Eyes. Kill Vule 3 times and have all 6 flag a group for 36 total Monocles. Now have that initial group do Misty again using another person's Blury Lens for 6 more Lense of Bound Eye. Kill Vule 3 more times to flag 30 more people (5 new per group). Could flag up to 186 people without having to get more Blury Lens, assuming the tasks are repeatable.

Blood Raids

Once you have your Monocle of Blood all that remains are the five blood raids:

Each raid, once defeated, gives you a Curse of Blood AA. This curse will magnify the power of the AEs in each of the blood raids but you need all 5 to be fully flagged for Demiplane. If you are missing one or more, you can still be raided into the instance as long as you have your Monocle of Blood, but will be prevented from looting anything except a Drop of Accursed Blood. Looting this will instantly grant you all 5 curse AA completing your flag.

If you manage to defeat Mayong Mistmoore you are granted all Curse of Blood and immunity to the AEs in the 5 blood raids should you ever choose to go back and replay them.
