Breakdown in Communication

Introduction

The Breakdown in Commincation quest touches every corner of the expansion with parts that are solo, group, multi-group, and even full bore raids. As you progress through the quest you will upgrade an augment, the first coming after Ferubi, the next after Tipt, third step after Kod'Taz, and then it upgrades again after each step.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Pre-flags

Our journey begins with Fezbin Fizzles in Abysmal Sea. He only speaks to those that are already 65+. Hail him and follow the dialog to learn about Taelosia. There was a great magical incident here which brought the Wayfarers (the folks that run the LDoN missions) out to investigate. During that investigation they learned a powerful invading force known as the Muramites have takens over Taelosia enslaving many of the locals. Scouts were dispatched but ultimately captured and tortured or outright killed. He asks if you would be interested in helping finding out what happened to the scout, saying "yes" starts you on the Breakdown in Communication quest.

He gives you Socketed White Crystal and Vaifan's Experimental Sealer. You will need to purchase some Vaifan's Clockwork Gemcutter Tools. As you progress through the quest you combine the crystal, tools, and stage rewards inside the sealer to make it into an augment.

If you inadvertantly mess up a portion of the quest (destroying a needed item or somehow bugging a part) you can tell Fezbin "I need to rescout *zone name*" to reset your actions in that zone.

 

 

 

 

 

Qinimi

Taminoa Bialu, in Abysmal Sea, handles the "city" zone portions of the quest; Qinimi, Riwwi, Barindu, and Ferubi. Hail them and say "Qinimi" to start this portion of the quest.

The ultimate goal for this leg of the task is to found out what happened to the scout Kreshin Silentcog and what he was doing. Head to Qinimi and search the ground around +314, -1057 and pick up Kreshin's Journal Page. Take this back to Taminoa. He'll read it over and tell you that Kreshin was working with a slave named Sislono Nislan. Taminoa gives you back the page (a different item ID so you can't skip this turn in) and instructs you to give it to Sislono.

Head back to Qinimi and locate Councilman Sislono Nislan (257, -640) in the southwest building of the northern part of the zone. Give him the page and follow the dialog. Sislono tells you that Kreshin is held in the courtroom, but you'll need a stone of entry to gain access. He can make one but you need to gather a few things:

Give the three items to Sislono and you get back a Stone of Entry. With the stone in your inventory head to the temple in the south of the zone, say "I wish to enter", and complete the Stop the Execution event. When Kreshin spawns, hail and give him your Stone of Entry. He will give it back along with Writ of the Magi. Deliver the writ back to Taminoa.

Taminoa tells you what Kreshin uncovered, that an ikaav is trying to siphon power from the natives so that they can control the stone themselves. Their ritual hasn't succeeded yet, and must never be allowed to. Taminoa will give you the writ (a different item ID so you can't skip this turn in), head back to Qinimi and give it to Sislono. He'll tell you more about the ikaav, Xictic. Gather 3 groups of people, tell Sislono "I am ready to face Xictic" and defeat the Stop the Ritual event.

Return to Taminoa and give him the Xictic's Bloody Robes and he thanks you for stopping the ritual and gives you Dull Gem Shard. Combine this with your Socketed White Crystal and Vaifan's Clockwork Gemcutter Tools inside the Vaifan's Experimental Sealer to create Dull Socketed Crystal.

You have successfully completed the first stage of the quest.

Barindu

Taminoa Bialu, in Abysmal Sea, handles the "city" zone portions of the quest; Qinimi, Riwwi, Barindu, and Ferubi. Hail them and say "Barindu" to start this portion of the quest.

The ultimate goal for this leg is to locate the scout Talwin. Head into Barindu and kill trash to collect Talwin's Journal Page 1 and Talwin's Journal Page 2. Bring them back to Abysmal Sea and give them both to Opury Foop. He reads the notes and tells you the head slaver, Ixvet Pox, seems to be the main issue. The report goes on to mention that Talwin had a contact, Proteri Amari, which would be a good starting point. Head back to Barindu and locate Proteri.

To speak with Proteri you will need at least Warmly faction Nihil, gained by killing muramites. With sufficient faction say "Who is Talwin" and follow the dialog. Proteri will tell you that they intend to poison Ixvet Pox. He gives you a Simple Stone Band to give to Kunimi Falade to continue the plan. You'll find Kunimi by the pyramid temple. Give them the band and he will tell you they need stronger ingrediants to distill an effective poison:

Give all 4 to Kunimi and he will mix up the poison and give you Poisoned Fruit. Give this one to Abena Taifa and they give you one back (different item ID so you can't skip this hand in) and sends you to Proteri Amari. Proteri then gives it back (again a different ID) with instructions to deliver it to Chiaka Lerato in the building just north of the pyramid temple. However, when you do Chiaka gives it back (again, a different item ID) and says it is too risky!

Head back to Abysmal Sea and locate Hamisi Lerato, Chiaka's sister, near the soulbinder. Hail him and say "Chiaka is alive". Hamisi will give you their mother's Tattered Shawl and tell you to give it to Chiak so she will know they escaped. Back to Barindu to hand in the shawl. Chiaka decides to escape to be with her bother and mother and gives you the Serving Tray. Gather your raid force, give the Tray and 3rd Poison Fruit to Abena Taifa. Abena will give you Abena's Collar of Liberation and path to poison Ixvet Pox. The guards will eat the fruit instead which will make the event easier by preventing the Aneuk Controllers from summoning adds.

You can choose to skip the entire poisoning subquest if you have a sufficiently strong raid force, but you will face 6 Constructs of War adds in addition to the Ikaav and Aneuks. You will also miss out on the Abena's Collar of Liberation.

Complete the Ixvet Pox event and loot a Talwin's Final Report from the Talwin's Remains in the corner. Finally deliver this to Taminoa. She will give you Shiny Gem Shard. Combine this with your Dull Socketed Crystal and Vaifan's Clockwork Gemcutter Tools inside the Vaifan's Experimental Sealer to create Shiny Socketed Crystal.

You have successfully completed the second stage of the quest.

Riwwi

Taminoa Bialu, in Abysmal Sea, handles the "city" zone portions of the quest; Qinimi, Riwwi, Barindu, and Ferubi. Hail them and say "Riwwi" to start this portion of the quest.

The ultimate goal for this leg of the task is to follow Reyna's path and learn what is going on in Riwwi. To start you need to find Reyna's Bloody Earring, a random drop from anything in Riwwi, and bring it back to Taminoa. When you do so he laments the likely loss of Reyna and suggests speaking to Turlini and Namosa, two slaves Reyna had mentioned in her reports.

To continue forward you need at least Kindly faction to Yunjo Slave Resistance. The brute force way is to slaughter in Riwwi getting 1 faction point for some kills. Or you can go the feeding route. In the buildings in the center of the zone are a number of Yunjo spawn points. These can spawn as enslaved yunjo, which are useless, or one of five types that want a different crafted good:

  • Thirsting Yunjo - Taelosian White Tea
  • Starved Yunjo - Food made of Cragbeast
  • Emaciated Yunjo - Food made of Crab
  • Famished Yunjo - Food made of Tuna
  • Hungry Yunjo - Food made of Hynid
You can hail them to verify what they are looking for and can give them full stacks of 20 to speed it up. After a few turn ins they change to enslaved and won't accept more.

Once your faction is high enough you can continue. Find Namosa in the central building, hail, and say "what favor". She will ask you to deliver her Scuffed Signet Ring to her family in Abysmal Sea. Head back, find Pandula, and turn in the ring. Pandula in turn gives you Final Words to give to Namosa. Back to Riwwi and turn that in. Dismayed at Pandula's words she asks you to speak to Councilman Tentric and gives you Token of Understanding to let them know who sent you. Back to Qinimi to find Councilman Tentric in the northeastern part of the zone. Give him the Token and he gives you Symbol of Faith to give Pandula encouragement. Back to Abysmal Sea and give the Symbol to Pandula, feeling a bit more hopeful she gives you a Drakelily. Back to Riwwi and give this to Namosa. After all this back and forth Namosa finally trusts you, she gives you a Crescent Stone Amulet and asks that you help Turlini. The amulet has no use at all.

You will find Turlini in a cage on the eastern side of the zone. Tell him that you have come to set him free and he'll tell you that you need to collect a full set of 10 shackle keys to free everybody and gives you Turlini's Key Bag to combine them in. The 10 keys are:

Place the 10 keys into the Bag, combine to get Sack of Silvery Keys, and give this to Turlini. He will ask you to create a distraction at the arena so they can make their escape.

Head to the coliseum and hail an enslaved yunjo. Tell him "I have come to defy the muramites". This triggers the first of 10 fights. For each fight you are given a bag. Collect the head(s) from the defeated mob(s), combine them in the bag, and give it to Turlini. After the turn in Turlini will give you a more and more powerful item. Give this item to the enslaved yunjo to trigger the next fight. If you fail you must start over at the first fight. If a mob gates it counts as a loss. If anybody outside the group tries to help they get teleported away.

  1. Frothing Hynid, hits 500ish, low health
  2. Gibbering Hynid, hits 650ish
  3. Highest Hills Cragbeast, hits 800ish, and after a small delay Handler Bvekh, also hits 800ish
  4. Pfaaxle, a mastruq, hits 800ish and proc stun
  5. Manipulated Stoneworker, golem, hits 900ish
  6. Misguided Stoneworker and Controlled Earthmover, golems, each hit 800ish, Earthmover casts Shaman spells
  7. Pixtt Master Hviqu, ikaav, hits for over 1k, and two golems that hit 600ish. All mezzable/rootable.
  8. Qiz, Xnoz, and Dnax. 3 Kyvs that can triple for 1200. All mezzable/rootable.
  9. Kizki the Slayer, ixt. Quads for 1600.
  10. Hexxt Skazm, Lixx, and Nheki, unmezzable Ukuns that hit 500ish and proc 700dd and Pixtt Kirq, Mik, and Khark, mezzable Aneuks that hit 1400 and proc a 350 dot.
When you turn in the final bag of heads Turlini gives you Sash of the Yunjo's Champion and informs you that Reyna passed away a few nights prior. He gives you Reyna's Scout Report to pass on. Deliver this to Taminoa. She will give you Glowing Gem Shard. Combine this with your Shiny Socketed Crystal and Vaifan's Clockwork Gemcutter Tools inside the Vaifan's Experimental Sealer to create Glowing Socketed Crystal.

You have successfully completed the third stage of the quest.

Ferubi

Taminoa Bialu, in Abysmal Sea, handles the "city" zone portions of the quest; Qinimi, Riwwi, Barindu, and Ferubi. Hail them and say "Ferubi" to start this portion of the quest.

The ultimate goal for this leg of the task is to found out what happened to the scout Smith Rondo. Taminoa tells you that Ferubi, once a temple, is now being used by the muramites to create weapons. Smith Rondo has gone silent and Taminoa wishes for you to give him Tuned Farstone to return home. Travek to Ferubi and find Smith Rondo in the far southwestern chamber. When you give him the stone he declines the chance to get out, instead it seems that they have done something to him which is corrupting his mind. He gives you Sealed Report and asks you give it to Taminoa before he loses control of himself entirely.

Back in Abysmal Sea give the report to Taminoa. After reading he tells you that it seems a Weapon Master has access to the region where the experiments are being done, like the one now corrupting Smith, but it only comes to Ferubi to repair the Elite's weapons. The plan is to trick the Weapon Master into coming by collecting damaged weapons, then defeating it to gain access. You'll need to collect four items:

Gather your raid force and complete The Weapon Master event. Once completed hail Smith`s Spectral Memory to receive Rondo's Report. Finally deliver this to Taminoa. She will give you Green Colored Gem Shard. Combine this with your Glowing Socketed Crystal and Vaifan's Clockwork Gemcutter Tools inside the Vaifan's Experimental Sealer to create an augment based on your class:

You have successfully completed the fourth stage of the quest.

Sewers

Vaifan Cogswin in Abysmal Sea handles the Sewers and Mountain portion of the quest. Hail him and say "Sewers" to start this stage.

Vaifan tells you he built a clockwork to handle scouting the sewers, but it was severely damaged. The reporting module was found but he needs parts to repair it. He gives you Broken Clockwork Output Gearbox and asks you to get the parts he needs. You will need to collect a drop from a Rare in each of the sewer instances:

Place the four parts inside the Gearbox and combine. This results in Repaired Clockwork Output Gearbox and Mangled Report. Keep the Gearbox for now and give the report to Vaifan. Vaifan thanks you for trying and that you might be able to fix the clockwork eventually. He also gives you Muddy Gem Shard. Combine this with your Green Hued Gemstone and Vaifan's Clockwork Gemcutter Tools inside the Vaifan's Experimental Sealer to create Muddy Green Gemstone. Since this result is not an augment you might want to just save the Muddy Gem Shard until you complete Vxed and Tipt as well.

You have successfully completed the fifth stage of the quest.

 

 

Vxed

Vaifan Cogswin in Abysmal Sea handles the Sewers and Mountain portion of the quest. Hail him and say "Vxed" to start this stage.

Vaifan tells you that he thinks clockwork scout you tried to repair with parts from the Sewer expeditions actually was destroyed in Vxed. If you collect the right parts from there he might be able to get it working. You'll need to get five drops:

All items drop from random mobs throughout the zone, rare mobs seem to have a higher drop rate.

When you have them all put the four items inside the Finkenheimer and combine (ONLY do this if you are at this point in the quest. Otherwise you lose them all). This creates Clockwork Scout Frame. Take this to Vaifan and he thanks you for your help and gives you Dusty Gem Shard. Combine this with your Muddy Green Gemstone and Vaifan's Clockwork Gemcutter Tools inside the Vaifan's Experimental Sealer to create Dusty Green Gemstone. Since this result is not an augment you might want to just save the Muddy and Dusty Gem Shards until you complete Tipt as well.

You have successfully completed the sixth stage of the quest.

 

Tipt

Vaifan Cogswin in Abysmal Sea handles the Sewers and Mountain portion of the quest. Hail him and say "Tipt" to start this stage.

Vaifan tells you Tipt is where his clockwork first ran into trouble and lost its power cells. If you are to have any hope of repair you must recover all 5. He gives you Depleted Clockwork Power Pack to put them in.

Put the 5 cells inside the depleted pack and combine to get Fully Charged Power Pack. Give this to Vaifan and says you are ready to finish repairs and get the clockwork's report. He gives you Clockwork Scout Assembly Instructions, Inactive Clockwork Scout Module (container), Extended Life Power Pack, and Power Pack Adapter. Take all of this and your Repaired Clockwork Output Gearbox from the Sewers step into either Vxed or Tipt. Put the power pack, adapter, and gearbox inside the module and hit combine. Clockwork Scout Model XIII will spawn. Target it and say "Access code 040703" (this code is listed in the Instructions) and it will give you the Outer Regions Scouting Report. Take this back to Vaifan and he will be thrilled it worked and give you Dirt Covered Gem Shard. Combine this with your Dusty Green Gemstone and Vaifan's Clockwork Gemcutter Tools inside the Vaifan's Experimental Sealer to create an augment based on your class:

You have successfully completed the seventh stage of the quest.

Yxtta

L`diava Rexxen handles the next steps for the quest. Hail her and say Yxtta to begin this stage.

L`diava will tell you about a scout, Xounii, who was sent to research the area because they were adept at shapeshifting and L`diava is worried they have been gone too long and lost sight of who they are. She asks you to bring back proof of what has happened. Head to Yxtta and find "Tqiv Trusik Fanatic". The mob can move about the primal cave and will shift form to blend in, appearing as "a cavernous lifesipper", "a cragbeast bonecruncher", or "a voracious beetle". This mob is no joke, can quad for up to 2500, can summon short duration pets, and casts Clinging Stone, a 48 second mez, and Geostrike, a 2500 dd. At low health it changes into "Xounii Shifter", a high elf with the same abilities. When defeated it drops Xounii's Journal Page 1. Take this back to L`diava.

L`diava reads the journal page and tells you that Xounii was researching a ritual going on in Uqua and sends you back to Yxtta to find more notes. You will need four pieces in total:

When you give all four pieces to L`diava she will thank you for your service and give you Translucent Gem Shard. Combine this with your Dirty Green Gemstone and Vaifan's Clockwork Gemcutter Tools inside the Vaifan's Experimental Sealer to create Translucent Green Gemstone. Since this result is not an augment you might want to just save the Translucent Gem Shards until you complete Kod`Taz as well.

You have successfully completed the eighth stage of the quest.

 

 

Kod`Taz

L`diava Rexxen handles the next steps for the quest. Hail her and say "frightful temple" to begin this stage.

L`diava will tell you that of all the scouts sent to Kod`Taz only one has failed to report, Kitren Lanom. She sends you to Kevren Nalavat to gain access to the trials to look for clues. In Kod`Taz speak with Kevren and work your way through progression to unlock Trial of Tri-Fates. Upon completion of the instance you will loot Kitren's Tattered Cloak. When you give this to L`diava she finds Kitren's journal in it and will need time to go over it, so she sends you back to Kevren in the meantime. She gives you a Sealed Note to deliver.

When you deliver the note to Kevren he'll say that he wants to you to more for him before he gives his report for L`diava. At this point you wll need to continue progression completing the entire Martyr's Passage step. You can then tell him "I have done all you asked." and he'll give you Sealed Confession to deliver.

When you give the confession to L`diava she will be upset at the contents, but thank you for the service and give you Smokey Gem Shard. Combine this with your Translucent Green Gemstone and Vaifan's Clockwork Gemcutter Tools inside the Vaifan's Experimental Sealer to create an augment based on your class:

Having completed everything up to this point return to Fezbin Fizzles in Abysmal Sea and tell him 'I have completed my task.' He will give you Jagged Gem Shard. Combine this with your Smokey Green Gemstone and Vaifan's Clockwork Gemcutter Tools inside the Vaifan's Experimental Sealer to create an augment based on your class:

Fezbin directs you to Beanalle Banoam to continue.

You have successfully completed the ninth stage of the quest.

Qvic and Beyond

Hail Beanalle Banoam and follow the dialog to learn that Qvic, Inktu`Ta, Txevu, and Tacvi are the names of temple grounds which the muramites have taken over and each of them should contain a shard of power which can increase the strength of your stone. If you bring her the shard she will condense it into a usable for.

Take your raid force to Qvic and defeat Cynosure. It drops 1-3 Shard of Dark Matter. Return the shard to Beanalle and get Condensed Matter Shard. Combine this with your Adventurer's Stone and Vaifan's Clockwork Gemcutter Tools inside the Vaifan's Experimental Sealer to create an augment based on your class:

Take your raid force to Inktu`Ta and defeat Noqufiel. It drops 1-3 Shard of Dark Matter. Return the shard to Beanalle and get Condensed Matter Shard. Combine this with your Black Matter Gemstone and Vaifan's Clockwork Gemcutter Tools inside the Vaifan's Experimental Sealer to create an augment based on your class:

Take your raid force to Txevu and defeat Zun`Muram Tkarish Zyk. It drops 1-3 Shard of Dark Matter. Return the shard to Beanalle and get Condensed Matter Shard. Combine this with your Jagged Black Matter Gemstone and Vaifan's Clockwork Gemcutter Tools inside the Vaifan's Experimental Sealer to create an augment based on your class:

Take your raid force to Tacvi and defeat Tunat`Muram Cuu Vauax. It drops 1-3 Cracked Shard of Power. Return the shard to Beanalle and get Condensed Shard of Power. Combine this with your Smooth Black Matter Gemstone and Vaifan's Clockwork Gemcutter Tools inside the Vaifan's Experimental Sealer to create an augment based on your class:
