Fortress Mechanotus

Overview

The zone is a floating island reached via cannon in Dragonscale, you can dive off the island to zone back. There are flingers to launch you to both Gyrospire Beza and Zeka, a pair of entrances to Steam Factory, S.H.I.P. over to the west, and the Mansion up stairs in the center. Most rares here spawn in areas and not from specific spawn points making them harder to camp directly. All of the task and mission givers are in the same area, near the zone in from Dragonscale.

Octa the Collector roams around, but is not hostile until damaged a bit. It will however pick up mobs and "fix" them, restoring them to full health.

Tasks

Tasks can be repeated unless otherwise specified.

Screw Loose

Quest giver: Tabazin Gearflinger
Requirements: none
Reward: Ak`Anon Strike Force +??, Beza Clockwise Capping Rotator

You are given a Sonic Screwdriver when given this task. You'll need to visit 10 locations and click the screwdriver to collect a bolt, furthermore the clicks need to be in the order given. The 4 oil rigs are in the northeast corner and the recycyler area is in the northwest corner of zone. You can add these to your map if needed:

Once you have them all give them to Tabazin and then the screwdriver to complete the task.

Endless Enemies

Quest giver: Clockwork Warmarshal
Requirements: none
Reward: Ak`Anon Strike Force +47, Zeka Clockwise Capping Rotator

Pretty direct task, just kill 3 each of 11 different mob types around the zone.

Switching Gears

Quest giver: Clockwork Warmarshal
Requirements: none
Reward: Ak`Anon Strike Force +??, Zeka Counterclockwise Capping Rotator

You are given a Mechano-Tool Kit when you get this task. You start by collecting 5 Micro-Cog (roughly 1 in 4 drop rate) and 5 Class "A" Cog (roughly 1 in 8). Then bring a clockwork gnome to under 40% health and click the kit. It only has a range of 10 so you need to be real close, and the mob needs to be alive when the spell finishes. This will consume a cog and update your task, repeat 10 times. The intention was for it to use either type of cog, but sadly this task is bugged and will consume multiple A Cogs per use if they are stacked. As such expect to spend a lot of time hunting for the "A" Cogs to finish. Return to Warmarshal to complete the task.

Breaking Things Down

Quest giver: Clockwork Warmarshal
Requirements: none
Reward: Ak`Anon Strike Force +12, Sidewards Axis Spring IV

Very direct task, kill 20 mobs with the word "steamwork" in the name and return to Warmsarshal to complete the task.

Hunt a Spy

Quest giver: Clockwork Warmarshal
Requirements: Unknown, but you may need to do one or two of Warmarshal's other tasks first
Reward: Ak`Anon Strike Force +??, Azia Clockwise Capping Rotator

First, if you are doing this as group, make sure only one person has the task at a time. When ready to begin take the elevator up to the first floor and a clockwork spy will spawn on that floor to the northeast. Head over invis when you hail him it will FD (if it doesn't, it is bugged and all you can do is hope for a zone/server crash). Once he is FD do not use any form of FD, fade, or evac and stand over him for a while and eventually he yells "FIRE" and takes off running to the west. Instead of following go up one floor and head northwest. Have your group waiting there and step into the last room on the left. Four spider/bellows mobs will spawn along with the spy. While you kill them the spy will path to the elevators and wait for you. Once dead head over and hail it.

The spy will yell "yikes" and reapear at the top of the elevator and path to the MMM zone line. Invis up to there and wait. Once the spy reaches you he'll FD again and 2 guardians will path up. They are immune to mez. Kill them both and the spy agros. Kill it, loot the box, and give it to the Warmarshal.

Note that the Azia Clockwise Capping Rotator is given after completing this task as well as Disable the Recycler. Whichever is finished second yields the reward.

A Slave to the Grind

Quest giver: Gurtrude the Spymaster
Requirements: none
Reward: Ak`Anon Strike Force +??, Beza Counterclockwise Capping Rotator

Simple task, killing 37 various mobs. The most rare are the a master slaver which spawn on the top floor. Return to Gurtrude once your slaughter is complete.

Disable the Recycler

Quest giver: Gurtrude the Spymaster
Requirements: none
Reward: Ak`Anon Strike Force +??, Azia Clockwise Capping Rotator

Head to the northwest corner of the zone. As you approach 3 "a steamwork skitter" spawn, these hit just under 1500 each. When the third dies you get 3 "a steamwork shockreaver", which hit just over 1500 each. When they are all dead Waste Management Director spawns which hits around 2400. Once it is dead return to Gurtrude to complete the task.

Note that the Azia Clockwise Capping Rotator is given after completing this task as well as Hunt a Spy. Whichever is finished second yields the reward.

Disrupt the Workshop

Quest giver: Gurtrude the Spymaster
Requirements: none
Reward: Ak`Anon Strike Force +??, Azia Counterclockwise Capping Rotator

Head into the static version of S.H.I.P. First speak with a steamwork spy mk-I near the zone in to get a clockwork illusion, this makes you non-KoS in the zone. This can be VERY useful when doing other things in the zone so you might want to keep this task active to make travel easier. Once you have the disguise head to the 3rd floor's north pod to find a steamwork spy mk-II. After hailing it go up another floor to a steamwork spy mk-III. When you hail it will give an error and direct you to get the notes from the Power Operations Manager in the southwest pod. It hits for up to 2700 but otherwise nothing special. Kill it and loot Power Stabilization Notes. Deliver this to the mk-III and the return to Gurtrude to complete the task.

Note that the Azia Counterclockwise Capping Rotator is given after completing this task as well as Supplies for Spies. Whichever is finished second yields the reward.

Supplies for Spies

Quest giver: Gurtrude the Spymaster
Requirements: none
Reward: Ak`Anon Strike Force +??, Azia Counterclockwise Capping Rotator

Before doing this task do some shopping. You'll need to purchase a Grease, a Metal Twine, a Battery Casing 3, and a Contraption Parts. These are sold on tinkering vendors throughout the world, Tabben Bromal in PoK above the smithy is an easy option. Once you have the goods locate 4 spies to turn them in:

The final spy is missing. Go to the Steam Factory and make your way to the 4 round rooms. Clear the area and then go in the northwest room around (630, -500) to spawn a steamwork spy mk-VII and 2 guards. The guards can be snared/rooted to split them up. Kill them both then go back to the northwest room to update. Then just return to Gurtrude to complete the task.

Note that the Azia Counterclockwise Capping Rotator is given after completing this task as well as Disrupt the Workshop. Whichever is finished second yields the reward.

Destroying the Competition

Quest giver: Pyrotechnician Flizcog
Requirements: none
Reward: Ak`Anon Strike Force +??, Right Curved Spatial Adjuster

You are given an Automated Incendiary Device Mark XIV when you get this task. You have 2 hours to reach 5 locations inside Steam Factory and set off bombs. Your best bet is to clear all mobs around each area, move in until you get an emote about finding the right spot, then click the device. Only one person can set a bomb at a time as well. If you run out of charges before getting your updates you can tell Flizcog "more" for a new device. Add these to your map to show where to look for the emotes:

Once you have your updates return to Flizcog to complete the task.

Power Station Blueprints

Quest giver: Engineer Springfap
Requirements: none
Reward: Ak`Anon Strike Force +??, Inverted Left Curved Spatial Adjuster

Fairly direct task. Inside Steam Factory you need to kill gnomes wearing plate to collect the four blueprints. The foundry area has a large number so is likely your best bet. Once you have the blueprints return them to Springfap to complete the task.

Stopping Production

Quest giver: Tavik Gearpaq
Requirements: none
Reward: Ak`Anon Strike Force +??, Upwards Axis Spring LXIII

You are given 3 Tainted Crystals when you get this task. You have one hour to make your way to the manufacturing room (the central rectangular area of the zone), clear the area of trasdj, and click on the boxes on the floor. Each time you do so a quality control bot spawns, no combat information beyond the fact that they can spawn adds. If doing for a group have everybody click the same box as only 1 bot will spawn. Once all 3 are dead return to Tavik to complete the task.

Alloy Sampling

Quest giver: Tavik Gearpaq
Requirements: none
Reward: Ak`Anon Strike Force +12, Forwards Axis Spring IV

Fairly simple task. Head to the northern rectangular room of the Steam Factory and kill 5 a foundry worker while picking up 4 Gnomium Samples, ground spawns in that area. The samples can be prelooted. Then give the samples to Tavik to complete the task.

Gearing Up

Quest giver: Tabazin Gearflinger
Requirements: none
Reward: Ak`Anon Strike Force +10

Tabazin offers 8 different "Gearing Up" tasks each of which ask for various no drop items found off trash in the zone. All items can be pre-looted so hold on to what you find while out grinding and then visit him to get the task that you have drops for.

Lost Lumpling

Quest giver: Lamperious Cogwittle
Requirements: none
Reward: Ak`Anon Strike Force +250, Spring Coil Particle Relocator

This is a lengthy task. Start by speaking with Cogwittle in Fortress who is looking for his little girl. He sends you to find a tracker, Derek Wolfblood in Dragonscale Hills. Tell Derek "Lost Lumpling" to get a Small Rabbit Fur Pouch and directed to loot 4 items:

Combine the 4 items inside the Pouch to create a Bloodwolf Spirit Pouch. Take this back to Cogwittle and when the task updates right click the Pouch to spawn Bloodwolf. When ready give Bloodwolf the pouch and he will start moving through the zone, follow him. Take the elevator up, as he moves east he will say "Be wary, I smell trouble" when two steamwork hunters spawn and attack. They are no different than zone trash, once dead he continues east to the last opening where he'll smell trouble again, this time a handful of spiderlings attack. Once they are dead he announces he can't follow the scent due to another overpowering one. Inside the last hut is a truculent ooze (no combat info). Kill it, loot a Small Ornate Copper Ring, and deliver it to Cogwittle. He sends you back to where you fought the ooze to look for more clues, find a steamwork gardener. Say "Lumpling" to it and it will spawn 3 spiderlings. Kill them and then the gardener to update the task.

Next up is inside the Steam Factory. This can potentially bug out if more than one person is at this step. If you stop getting emotes try zoning out, back in, and restarting from here. Your first emote comes around (-415, -640) where you should get a bit of yellow text about a song. Your next update is around (-10, -975), more yellow text and two a steamwork musician spawn. These can each hit for up to 6k (20k if it backstabs!). After killing both return to (-10, -975) for more yellow text. Head west to (30, -130) for more yellow text and west one more room. You'll want to clear the room before moving to (20, 125) and triggering the next update as three minotaurs spawn. The two slavers hit for 3k while the slavemaster hits up to 7k, they are leashed together but mezzable. Kill them and go back east to (20, 125) for another emote about the song fading. Now head south to find an aged minotaur around (-465, -125). Beat him down to 35% (no combat info) when he will go inactive. Tell him "lost lumpling" to update your task.

Next up is to locate the brownie Jemi. Ask them "Where is Lumpling" and "I'm up for the job" to get an instance of S.H.I.P. then "ready" to zone in. Inside the instance your target is Ignacious Spingoggle in the far north pod along with 5 adds. The adds hit up to 5k each, no info on Ignacious. Kill him, loot a Tiny Toolkit, and deliver it to Jemi.

Back to Fortress to find Veltar the Aged in a locked building near the western zone to Steam Factory. As you get near mobs inside should charge out, opening the door. Get in quick and kill Veltar (no combat info). Once it is dead return to Cogwittle to complete the task.

Oil Cans

Quest giver: Tinmyn Cogsloose
Requirements: none
Reward: Ak`Anon Strike Force +62, Tinmyn's Oil Can

Once you get the task your first step is to speak with Sparks Diggleknob to try and find oil for Tinmyn. First up is a Can of Dirty Oil from a steamwork mender, drops around 1 in 4. Give this to Sparks, and it won't do. Next is a Can of Warm Oil from steamwork troopers or soldiers, also around 1 in 4. Give this to Sparks, it won't do either. Head to around (-1575, -255) and locate Wretched Oil Ooze, Murky Oil Ooze, and Sticky Oil Ooze. Kill them and loot a Can of Unrefined Oil from each. Give these to Sparks who gives you a Can of High Quality Oil, deliver that to Tinmyn to get him going again.

Tinmyn sends you to kill a pair of Cog Marauders on the west side of the zone. These large foes hit for over 3k, can rampage, and spawn 2 ooze adds at 50%. Loot two Cog Marauder Power Storage Crystal and bring them back to Tinmyn. He uses the power to create a Metal Cutting Blade. Give the blade to Sparks who fashions it into a Oil-Powered Gear Saw. Finally deliver the saw to Tinmyn to finish the task and recieve your Tinmyn's Oil Can, a charm which changes stats based on the total value of your carried plat. For max stats you need exactly 243 platinum or any value of that times 3 (729, 2187, 6561...).

Spy Reports

Quest giver: Gurtrude the Spymaster
Requirements: Gurtrudes 4 tasks
Reward: Ak`Anon Strike Force +??, Ak`Anon Strike Force V Black Badge

You will need MMM access to do this task.

The undercover agent is an inconspicuous mechanic, you'll find him at in the zepplin. Head over, uninvis, and chat with him for the first update. It is out of agro range of the room, so no worries.

Along the edges of the island Siege Inspector Huttle roams east to west and back. You'll need to stay moderatly close and "observe" him stop 6 times, can take up to 10 minutes. Each time you should get an emote about "This one seems to be coming along nicely." On the 6th observation you get a Seige Engine Inspection Notes on your cursor. If at any point you are too close he will snap his book shut, teleport, and force you to start over following. Head back to the zepplin and give the notes to the inconspicuous mechanic for your second update.

For third update simple go visit Gurtrude and hail her. She'll tell you about a spy in Steam Factory disquised as a mechanic.

Head into the Steam Factory and head southwest. You will find a fan mechanic in a room by himself. Hail him, say "Spymaster Gurtrude sent me", and follow the dialog for your 4th update.

Now you need to start killing stuff. You will need:

After collecting the 4 items (can be prelooted) hand them them in to the spy mechanic, he gives you a Miscalibrated Clockwork Driveshaft. Assemble a group and head to the assembly room to find a deactivated steamwork. Clear the area first then hand in Driveshaft. It activates, paths west a bit, and spawns Head Engineer Gearwhir. Gearwhir hits about 2500 and summons adds at various health levels. The adds hit for 1500, can be mezzed, unknown if they despawn or frequency they spawn. Gearwhir drops 6 Steam Factory Work Schedule, loot one and deliver it to Gurtrude.

Gurtrude will ask you to go scouting in Steam Factoring. Insides the zone head to the northeast corner, from here go across the catwalk to the northwest. You'll get an emote and a task update when entering the room. Head back to Gurtrude to tell her that the power station is not yet repaired. She'll ask you to talk with Engineer Brinik. Chat with him and he'll send you back to Steam Factory to find his contact a furnace engineer and escort him to the Power Station. You'll find the furnace engineer in a room full of mobs you'll need to clear out first. When you trigger him he begins pathing towards the Power Station and multiple times during the progression you'll be ambushed by security officers in hallways. Kill them and keep going, invising through rooms as you can. He'll stop at the final room at which point you hail him to update the task.

Return to Gurtrude and she sends you on another errand, this time to an agent in Gyrospire Zeka. Outside the tower (among multiple see invis) you'll find an iron gardener. Hail him for the update and begin the LONG painful clear to the top of the spire to reach Catapult Engineer XIX on the roof. He hits for over 3k and drops Zeka Catapult Plans. Loot one and deliver it to Gurtrude.

Gurtrude has two more agents to track down, one in one in S.H.I.P. and one in the Mansion, you can do them in either order.

For S.H.I.P. you should use the disquise trick to locate a steamwork tinker at the bottom of the zone. Hail it and follow the dialog. You will need to collect a set of gears to get the disabled steamwork to follow directions and then explode. Mobs drop a random gear around every 6th kill. The dropped gears are:

There are many ways to complete this. The goal is to walk 45, turn, walk 15, turn back, another 45, turn, 15 more, turn back, last 45, turn back, 30, and boom. One pattern that would work: Adv C, Rot A, Adv A, Rot C, Adv C, Rot A, Adv A, Rot C, Adv C, Rot C, Adv B, Dest Z.

You can substitute as needed based on what gears you find, like using a turn left instead of right and then walk backwards or using a 15 and a 30 in place of 45. When you've figured out a combination go to the "disabled clockwork" and say "reset". Then hand in the gears one a time, ending with the Destruction gear. Say "execute" and if all is correct it will go blow up the room and update the task. It might be worth clearing the area first to make sure the clockwork doesn't collide and screw up pathing.

For the Mansion step you will need to clear your way to the far northwest room with the M.E.G.. First clear the room of all trash and then hail a valve inspector and follow the dialog. Say "ready" to trigger a ring event where you will kill 20 Steamwork Eradicator IV's. Once you've killed 20 the task updates.

With both steps complete head back to Gurtrude to complete the task.

Missions

Gyrospire Beza missions:

Gyrospire Zeka missions: S.H.I.P. missions:

Octa the Collector

Octa the Collector is an open world target. It starts out non-agro roaming around repairing any damaged zone trash. After attacking for a bit it activates and starts fighting back. It hits for up to 10k with both single and AE rampage. Throughout the fight it summons adds which can AE and if absorbed by Octa trigger a bigger AE or buff Octa in some way. No info on if it is possible to stop them, some or all may not be attackable.

Octa also casts Release of Steam, a 5k PBAE with small pushback.

Octa the Collector drops 6 Prototype Decoder for MMM raid access, 2 pieces of Tier 1 visible (Hands or Wrist), and 2 of the following:
