Plane of Nightmares

Overview

The Plane of Nightmares is the most dangerous of the Tier 1 zones. The mobs here have a pretty large agro range and like to run at low health which can spell disaster very quickly. Many things see invis as well making travel difficult. Once you cross the river you can't go back and will need to zone out at the hedge event. The mephit and goblin caves to the north are a good source of low level spell drops.

Events

Aid Eino
  • Size: 1+ group
  • Respawn: about an hour

At 10 PM gametime go to -512, 1682 and /say Quellious be my guide. Eino spawns and will start pathing southeast and then 4 banshees will spawn (zone trash will also be an issue). Next he continues southeast to the river where 2 nighstalkers will spawn. Next leg goes north until 4 hobogoblins attack, north for 3 more banshees, more north across the river for 3 bats. After a rest The Dreamkeeper spawns, nothing too special. This drops a Strand of Nightmare, and then Eino will path to the zone out at the graveyard. Hand in the Strand to get Tiny Gold Fist.

This quest is more easily completed in an instance as you can pre-clear the zone trash and then only need to worry about the event spawns.

Deyid The Twisted
  • Size: 2 groups
  • Respawn: 3 days

The Deyid event takes place on a plateau in the northwest portion of the zone. Speak with Seilaen (follow all dialog) to trigger and then both group leaders say "I am ready" to port up. Deyid doesn't instantly attack so you have a chance to buff up. There are 8 trees that will add, four are timed after roughly 5 minutes, the other four activate at 50%, 40%, 30%, and 20%. The adds do not despawn so be prepared to handle them, or loot and evac. Deyid can hit for up to 800 When killed Deyid drops a spell scroll or two and one of the following:

If you go through the northern caves taking the eastern path it loops back to a ledge with Vhaksiz mounted in the middle. He can hit for up to 1200. Vhaksiz always drops a Heart of Vhaksiz for the PoK manual quest series, a spell scroll or two, and two of the following:
Hobgoblin Anguish Lord
  • Size: 3+ groups suggested
  • Respawn: triggered

The Hobgoblin Anguish Lord is triggered by killing a sequence of spawns. First kill bats until you get "The Bullyrag Bat" in the northeastern most chamber of the caves (not to be confused with the loot dropping rare "a bullyrag bat"). When it dies "The Painwrack Hobgoblin" spawns in the chamber just to the west, go kill it (not to be confused with the loot dropping rare "a painwrack hobgoblin"). When it dies "The Fearsome Hobgoblin" spawns in the chamber to the far west, go kill it (not to be confused with the loot dropping rare "a fearsome hobgoblin"). Finally when it dies the Hobgoblin Anguish Lord will spawn in the southwest chamber along with 2 guards, a mephit and a bat. All 3 are permarooted. With careful positioning you can kill them one at a time (start with Mephit as it has a potent AE), or tank them all and burn. Be aware of potential knockbacks.
The Fearsome Hobgoblin can drop a spell scroll and potentially one of the following: The Hobgoblin Anguish Lord drops a spell scroll or two and two of the following:

After 36 mobs have been killed or reached the stage Mujaki and all the mobs that reached the stage will become active and attack. Mujaki hits for 750+, has an AE lifetap, and casts the occasional fear. The adds hit in te 3-400 range. When killed Mujaki a spell scroll or two, and two of the following:
Hedge Event
  • Size: 18
  • Respawn: instant?

Find Thelin Poxbourne in the northeastern portion of the zone, follow his dialog and have up to three group leaders say "I am ready" to port into the hedge maze. Once everybody is in hail Thelin and say "I am ready" to start the event. Thelin will slowly walk through the maze collecting six pieces of a dagger. During the walk you'll have both static mobs and spawns attack, you Must keep Thelin alive. When Thelin reaches the center of the maze "a construct of nightmares" spawns and attacks. Not very hard, just a big chunk of hitpoints. Once the construct is defeated loot a Dagger Blade Shard, give it to Thelin for a Thelin's Dagger and then everybody can hail him for Terris Thule access flag. The construct drops a spell scroll or two, and one of the following:

In short the fight goes like this: Engage, dps to 75% triggering a bunch of butterfly adds, kill them, dps to 50% triggering an AE 12 slot dispel, dps to 35% triggering 4 hard gargoyle adds, kite them, kill Terris, kill gargoyles. Once everything is dead hail the planar projection for your flag. Terris Thule drops a couple spell scrolls and two of the following:
