Wall of Slaughter

Overview

The Wall of Slaughter is one of the most popular zones to xp in the expansion. The rares here drop gear that is either Recommended 60 or Recommended 66 with those that drop the 60s also dropping the quest armor pieces (no legs or chest). In addition to the rares there are 3 zonewide rare drops:

There are a few stand alone raids in the zone with loot ranging from 130 hp to 180 hp. South leads back to Nobles' Causeway, northeast to the Muramite Proving Grounds (req 65 to zone), and the raid zone Anguish to the northwest.

Raids

The Murkglider Hivequeen

The Hivequeen is surrounded by murkgliders and eggs in her cave. You can pull all of the murkgliders out before engaging, but once you start the Hivequeen will keep laying eggs. If the eggs aren't killed quickly they will hatch into 4 Murkglider Hatchlings each. The Hivequeen hits for upwards of 2k, but the main difficulty comes from keeping the eggs dead.

Once defeated it has a roughly 24 hour respawn. Drops 2 spell runes and 1 of the following:

Pyrique Redwing

Pyrique beging in her tower along with some trash. Pull the trash out then Pyrique. At this point she hits for 900ish and casts Pyrilen Bolt, a 1500dd. Take her down to 75% and she despawns and 6 "Pyrique's Shadow" spawn in the tower, all rooted in place and summon. All six cast the Pyrilen Bolt, but five of the shadows will hit for only 170 while one hits for near 900. Every 40 seconds they shimmer and shuffle around with a new position being the 900 hitter. If you did enough damage to the 900 hitter you will get an emote:

"Pyrique`s Shadow staggers backward as her shadowy duplicates fade away."

When you have gotten the emote 6 times the shadows despawn and the original Pyrique respawns and can be taken from 100 to 0. Once defeated it has a roughly 24 hour respawn. Drops 2 spell runes and 1 of the following:

Tarn Icewind

To trigger this raid you need to loot 4 Icy Crystal from ferans and chimeras in the Wall of Slaughter. Give a crystal to each of the four "a portal crystal" and Tarn will spawn at the "crystalline portal" in the center. Tarn doesn't hit hard, under 1k, and casts Freezing Winds, 800 AE with attack debuff and 4 mana per tick drain. While any "a portal crystal" is alive Tarn will have an insane level of health regen. Additionally every 60 seconds he spawns adds, either raging ferans which are immune to mez or snarling feran which can be mezzed, both types are stunable and hit for up to 700s. The best bet here is to have half your raid focus on killing adds while the other half kill off the portals. Once all portals are dead drop Tarn then clean up any leftover adds.

Once defeated it has a roughly 24 hour respawn. Drops 2 spell runes and 1 of the following:

Velitorkin

Velitorkin hits for upward of 1900 and casts Velitorkin Stomp, an 800 dd AE with a gravity flux and shadowstep. Besides getting knocked all around creation it is a fairly straightforward event.

Once defeated it has a roughly 30 hour respawn. Drops 2 spell runes and 1 of the following:

Hulcror

This guy "guards" the Proving Grounds, but not very well since can't see invis. Hulcror hits for up to 3000, flurries, rampagges, and AE rampages. It casts:

This AE might be viral, meaning if not everybody is cured it can spread to new targets every 12 seconds. At 10% health (and perhaps other times?) Hulcror will mem blur so be prepared for agro to bounce.

Once defeated it has a roughly 3 day respawn. Drops 2 spell runes and 2 of the following:
